Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless 6-Quart Saucepot with Glass Lid

Great pot
Don't know if the previous reviewer is a xenophobe or what, but this pot is fine whether it's made in China or the US. Buy it knowing you are buying into a great line of Calphalon pots, without spending bundles on a similar, but overpriced All-clad line.

It has a wonderful satin finish, and tri-ply on bottom and sides. Cool -V handle works well, even on a gas range. I like the glass lid, which allows me to peer into the contents whilst I'm cooking.

A note about cleaning- after extended use, there will be tarnishing and brown blemishes (at least on my gas range). To get rid of these, do NOT use Bon Ami because it's too gentle- doesn't get rid of stains. Best way to go is Barkeeper's Friend, about $2.50 at your local supermarket, or Cameo Stainless Steel Cleaner. However, Cameo is more abrasive than Barkeeper's Friend, and WILL reduce the mirror polish of these pans. Barkeeper's is the way to go- remember to ALWAYS rub in a circular manner- back and forth...

Quality Calphalon Cookware
Quality Calphalon cookware that lasts a lifetime. Tri ply construction has even heat distribution. Don't waste your money on lesser quality.

Good, but not the best
Calphalon's great reputation was built from great American made cookware. Unfortunately, this newer line is made in China, at a slight loss of quality. The finish on this pan is good, polished outside and satin inside. The polished, forged, stainless handles feel a bit thin, none the less strong enough. The glass lid is nice, though it does not mate firmly with the pan; there is a bit of an out-of-true wobble to it. The bottom is satin finished to heat better; etched with "Calphalon / Made in China." Performance is decent for a stainless stock pot, pretty even heating; just a bit slower heating than an aluminum or copper pot.
